So, has anyone managed to get this working on a W10 x64?
Just sits in the background and doesn’t do anything, even with start.exe.

I wasn’t able to get the game running either. To make matters worse, I got a virus when I extracted the files.
It’s really an old game, so try using Japanese local setting and use compatibility mode to Window XP (also try using forced admin mode).
You might want to try stopping temporaly the antivirus, they sometime have trouble with JP exe, especially bran new or old game.
This serie from Erogos is really a bundle of good game, a shame the company went down after that…
Well, to answer my own question, after some looking around the web… Nope W10 cannot handle it.
Not a locale or compatibility thing. Well technically, it IS a compatibility thing, I guess lol. Only way to play it on W10 is through a VM – I got it to work (through blood and sweat and screaming) with a W7 Virtual Machine. Not optimal. Ahem.
Also that “virus” is actually the crack (start.exe), and is needed to run the game; almost 99,99% sure it’s a false positive. That said, not many things look trojan for almost two-thirds of the engines on VirusTotal, so…fingers crossed? xD
Anyway, you need it if you want to play, so you must reign in your AV…
All this said, if ANYONE managed to run it on W10, please DO say so.
