Let’s be honest guy. Just the dlsite preview show it’s bad English. It’s not full machine translation. But it’s clearly not up to the level.
Bassicaly, fan translator do better job.
You’ll get what’s hapenning and what’s been said, but the Engrish may hurt your eyes.
Thanks for the heads-up. I guess it was expected when dlsite puts “(English product description provided by the creator.)” Usually, dlsite translated games say that they were translated by a “professional”.
Well, as far as dlsite policy goes, it’s on the line of :
“provider by the dev” -> Dlsite don’t check the translation, just that the work follow the site rule (censorship power…). So it could be a full MTL or even worse – or the dev actually hired a profressional and it’s top quality…
“DLsite translation” -> made by translator hired by dlsite. Normally of good + quality (requierement to work as translator for DLsite – Living in Japan, native in Japanese or English – preference for Japanese – and fluent in the other).
Sadly, they got a few bad translator, and a few work translated by dlsite are about edited MTL level -_-
Whenever face with an English translation on Dlsite, it’s best to
A) check the game description on the English page. If the English here is rubish, the translation will be too (since provided by the dev / dlsite translator)
B) check the English preview, if you see engrish or bad English, it won’t be an unique error in translation…
But still, event MTL is better than full Japanese if you don’t know how to set up translating tool – it’s very bad English but you’ll get a grip on what’s going on and what you need to do to progress the story.
